Current Priorities

The following is a summary of development projects that we are aiming to fund:

  • Construct New Classrooms
  • Some of the original classrooms are now in desperate need of replacement. This is a great opportunity to take a fresh look at the site and plan for a development of classrooms over a number of years to create an excellent learning environment. This is and will be the main focus of attention for 2013/14

  • Secondary School Bursary
  • We are currently supporting Ronald through Secondary School, at one of the best schools in Kenya. Whilst secondary education is significantly more expensive than primary, we passionately believe the best way to overcome poverty is through educating children to secondary and on to university.

  • Improve School Security
  • The harsh reality of living in abject poverty means that it is necessary for the school to improve its security and guard against the theft of valuable books and resources which benefit the whole community.

    The Gift of Learning
  • Development of School Library
  • In Shonda good quality books are in short supply and each one is really appreciated. The children in Shonda need books that develop their knowledge and spark their imaginations.

  • Equip classrooms
  • The new classroom needs to be fully equipped with appropriate learning aids.

    The Classroom under construction
  • New Curriculum Course Books
  • New course books are needed to support the new curriculum. We are aiming to equip the whole school with appropriate course books, starting with provision of maths and english books for class one.

  • Funding Costumes and Transport for the National Music and Dance Festival
  • This is an important part of the school year and one in which the school continually excels - often reaching the finals in Nairobi - an extraordinary achievement for such a small school.
